I have personally read it and practiced the timeless principles with my daughters.” — Diana Thomas, U.S. vice president of training, learning & development, McDonalds Corporation“Fifteen years ago Sean Covey wrote a powerful book that taught teens that they had the ability to choose their behavior but not the consequences. I recommend it to anyone!” — Chelsie Hightower, professional dancer, Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance“Sean’s book helps teenagers to become climbers rather than campers, to live with a goal in mind, and to confront obstacles with a ‘no barriers mindset.’ He urges young people to Make Your Life Extraordinary and provides a pathway which will get them there. Sean does a great job with the book.” — Jimmer Fredette, Naismith/ Wooden award winner, NBA player“Had my son had the chance to grow up, I know this book would have been a great guide and given him the tools he needed to navigate his way through life. Leavitt, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services“I have been juggling family, school activities, friends, and after-school responsibilities. When I read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens it helped me become a more organized person. I used a lot of the cartoons to help me remember stories and examples.” — Joy Denewellis, age 18“Stephen Covey must be rightfully proud of his son Sean, who absorbed his father’s lessons well. Those who wish to avoid the temptations and devastation of drugs, including alcohol, would be wise to implement The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. Written for teenagers, this book is an indispensable tool, helping young people make the right choices, while growing up in the chaos of today. I wish there had been a book like this for those of us who grew up in the sixties.” — Candace Lightner, president of We Save Lives and founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving“Motivation is only a part of the game of life. Self-discipline and self-control are key in making your dreams a reality. This book offers all the tools you need as a teen to be a champion in life.” — Mia Hamm, FIFA’s Women’s World Player of the Year, former member of the U.S. women’s national soccer team“Sean’s ‘can do’ examples remind me of how important it is to make the most of what I have. I play a lot of sports, though I’m not a big kid. This book helped me realize that I have to rely on my speed and my smarts if I want to reach my goals.” — Brent Kuik, age 15“Powerful but not parental— an important message delivering much more than good advice, it offers true direction to teens living in a challenging, complex world. Covey offers sound, time-tested direction without sounding preachy or parental . . . packaging unquestionable wisdom into a friendly, approachable book that will inspire trust and encourage teens to follow their hearts, rather than simply follow the group.” — Patrick S. • This book arrived ripped and bent and looked more like a used book than new. I see from other reviews that other people have had the same issue, so just to let everyone know, the quality issue remains active.Secondly some of the anecdotes in the book are not aging well even though this was just updated in 2014. I did not like the references to dieting and weight loss in the beginning. I would have preferred the focus to be on health and healthy eating and not on a vanity metric… I’m not looking to give my teen a complex about food or appearance. Thankfully there seems to be just a few references and it’s not a big portion of the book so far. There is a pretty appalling anecdote about how black people need to stop saying they are being held back by racism. Given everything that’s happened in the last 3 years or so, that’s just not accurate or helpful or improving the conversation. The the advice is generally helpful, but I suggest parents carefully read through the anecdotes and examples because a lot of it is pretty politically charged in my opinion.
  • I chose a whopping 5 star rating for this book because I feel like this could help out so many other teens like me that are going through problems, but not only teens, this book could help anyone, really. I recommended this book to so of my adult friends (mom and dad friends) and they really seemed to like it, and I could really tell they are using what they learned in this book because they just seem more… well, happy! They seem to have a better grip on life and emotions. I truly recommend this book to anyone. Eighty years old but still having trouble in life? It’s never too late to pick up this book! Maybe you are ten and wish you could escape from the real world but also get your life ready for whatever may happen? I can almost guarantee that this book is that you are looking for! As for some people that don’t like to read but want a better life.. like the eighty and ten year olds, I suggest you read this book. Or since this is the 21st century, have a bot or something read this to you. As for the author of this book… thank you. Thank you for helping my grasp on life, my sight to beauty, my entire mindset, and my interactions to people of all types. Though the chance you read my comment is most likely one to many, I still thank you. And thank you to everyone who helped write and or make this book, your efforts will not be forgotten.
  • This book was referred to me by the Asperger Experts. My son has aspergers. He is highly intelligent and a sweet soul, but I needed something to help him to understand what makes a person effective/successful in life. As he matures and as he heads off to high school very soon, this book will be so very helpful to him. I feel it is a wonderful resource for parents and teachers to share with all teens. The world is big and coming at them so fast. Lets equip them in every way that we can. There is a workbook that you can purchase also. My son will be working through this (this year) as he starts the 8th grade. Thank you Sean Covey!
  • My 12-year-old son came to me crying after reading about rape. This is mature content. I thought I was buying something to help my teen organize his school work or chores, not learn about a girl’s rape story. I just wish this was spelled out instead of passing it off as something a young teen can pick up and read.
  • The general ideas and concepts are only a positive addition to you or your teens life. We started reading this to our kids at 8 and 9 years old and having a general discussion on habits and behaviors discussed in the book. I share this book with whomever as a great starting point for teens trying to develop an active action plan based on what they want and are interested in, as well as assisting them in reflecting on what it is that they want and what do their current behaviors show that they really want. Great starting point. If your teen is not a reader or a little hesitant, get creative. Read a chapter a night or every few days as a family and discuss it. Be consistent with it, they will open up if you remain quiet and allow them to really think for themselves and freely share their thoughts with you as they try to figure out the life that they want to live for themselves.
  • This is actually a funny story… I ordered this book because for some crazy reason the hardback was at a lower price than the paperback. So I was like, “SCORE!” then when the book arrived and it was only two inches tall, *facepalm* however, my teenager loved it! And still, gives me crap out not properly reading the description before purchasing the item!
  • I cannot recommend this book enough, and not just for teens. The principles detailed in this book would be life-changing if you applied them (that’s the hard part!) I am a Christian and I read it with a biblical worldview and still loved it. A lot of the problems I see in society today could be fixed if everyone took these habits to heart!
  • When I selected the hard cover version of this book, I did not realize it was a miniature version. It seemed like it was not clear that this version was different from the regular sized paper back book during the purchasing process, though the picture of the hard cover does say Miniature. Once I received this miniature book it was not worth the effort of sending back. If you intend to purchase the miniature version then this book is good quality but does not contain all the same information as the original, paperback edition.
  • Bought this for my 12 year old son. Being an avid reader already he picked it up with enthusiasm and finds it very resourceful. After reading a few pages he approached me to discuss the issue of drugs and the danger of taking drugs. there were some example real stories of how drugs can ruin one’s life. I haven’t read enough to provide an in depth review but from first impressions I find it very resourceful and encouraging teenagers to be a better version of themselves , for example there are 15 things that a teenager needs to do and one of the few that my son mentioned to me was he had to volunteer to help someone…. anything that encourages my son to be less selfish/self centred earns points in my book! I will try to read a few chapters with him as well and discuss the issues that come with teenagerhood. overall I would recommend this book to anyone with teenager in their lives. The print is quite small but it wouldn’t put me off buying this book.
  • I read this book nearly 20 years ago when it first came out and this addition has been nicely updated. Sean is the son of Stephen Covey who wrote the hugely successful ‘7 Habits of Highly Successful People’ which I always wanted to read but it is pure text. This version, is full of cartoons, spaces to write, reflections and stories, and is the same 7 habits, so if learning by reading isn’t your thing, give this version a go! Sure the stories are from kids at high school but the principles are the same. Grown ups still have work obligations to knuckle down to, careers to work for, social events to attend, social groups to navigate so the same advice applies. I always enjoy dipping into this book. There really is something for everyone (and I am very middle aged now!)
  • I think the reviews here are a mixture of those for the regular book and the mini pocket book, and so I thought the reviews that talk about the small font were only for the mini book but NO even the normal size book comes with really small font that I think is not very engaging for anyone especially teens. The older version of this book that I have seen was much more user friendly than this current version.
  • Good book. However my daughter said it has some content in regard to sharing abuse stories. It didn’t bother her but it may bother others. Just a heads up.
  • Brought this for my teenage son for Christmas. He said it is very amusing and can relate to most of the things in there. So I guess that means he isn’t a alien from out of space that we thought he was.He said it was a great book and would recommend it to teens.I’m yet to read it
