Maria T. Codina Leik, MSN, ARNP, FNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, is the president and principal lecturer at National ARNP Services, Inc. (npreview.com). Well known for her ability to simplify complex concepts for her students, she is a popular speaker and educator. Ms. Leik taught previously in the nurse practitioner (NP) program at Florida International University Graduate School of Nursing. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) in two specialties: family NP and adult-gerontology primary care NP. She is an experienced NP with more than two decades of clinical practice.   • original Digital access code that came with the book for some reason did not work. The code was covered by protective coating when I received it and appeared brand new. I contacted the seller and they sent me a new activation code quickly that now works with ExamPrepConnect, so good customer service on the sellers end.ExamPrepConnect is a nice digital tool that works on PC, tablet or smart phones. It sets a study plan based on the date you want to take the boards exam. The lessons within the ExamPrepConnect are sections of the book, so you may read the book through the digital access and it will track your progress. There are practice questions for each chapter, flash cards and study games.The Leik book itself is paperback, but unlike the 3rd Leik edition the 4th edition has colored pictures which is definitely an improvement, especially when going through dermatology. The Leik book has a detailed review but does not give an overwhelming amount off information. Leik is organized very well with each system broken down into chapters and within those chapters it has danger signals, disease review, exam tips and clinical pearls. My school chose to use the Fitzgerald’s book to prep students for boards, but I did not like this book since the quiz questions come before the reading in the chapters and the reading for each topic is very long and gives you an overload of information you will likely forget.Overall, if you are looking for a review book for FNP boards exam I would highly recommend the Leik book with digital access. Best to buy the book at the beginning of the last semester of FNP school and use it throughout that last semester.
  • I was incredibly pleased with the Leik book and all of the resources that came with it. I was able to do work on the computer, in the physical book, and on my cell phone using the app. There’s a ton of practice questions that don’t repeat and the rationale for each answer was really helpful. We were originally given Barkley review course in school but the Leik book really exceeded my expectation. I passed my aanp with flying colors the first time after studying with this book for a little over a month. There were even some questions word for word on the aanp exam that I had read in Leik as well. I highly highly recommend!
  • I am studying for recertification and fell in love with this book! I am about half way and its just set up so good! I have done Fitz and Barkley but this is just perfect! Feeling like it would DEFINITELY have been my initial go to if I knew this before!
  • The updates in the book look great. I love the colored pictures and there is definitely new information. However, my code is NOT working. I cannot figure out how to contact the seller. I emailed Springer Publishers. I hope this can be fixed quickly as my exam is soon and I rush ordered this book so I could use the code.Update: i tried again today and Springer Pub message says code wont work until Spring 2021. If you want online access dont buy until then
  • I just received this today. I am done with all my classes I just need clinical placement which is difficult to find at the moment so I decided to study for boards now. I read reviews of multiple books and chose this one. I was only 2 minutes into the book before I got useful information. It is a very dense book with a lot of content but I already have information on how the questions will be posed, a timeline to prepare for scheduling your exam and how to best find the correct answer. There are LOTS of practice questions with the rationale through the chapters. I am impressed so far. I will update as I progress through the book.
  • This was one of several tools I used to prepare for the ANCC FNP board exam – which I passed on the first attempt. I used a Fitzgerald prep course, did some BoardVitals.com questions, and this. This was, in my opinion, the most helpful tool. I felt the exam questions were much like the ones presented in this review, and the lessons/clinical pearl features were excellent. Also, the helpful hints/tips on test taking were golden. I can’t recommend this enough!
  • The book is awesome, but the 6 month free digital access to the study tool is incredible. I enjoy going through the lessons and trying my hand at some board-style questions. Excellent all the way around. Must have.
  • I bought this book for both the book and digital access to study to take my exam in May and after buying I was informed the digital access would not be available until early spring. But they went ahead and started my 6 month access time frame even though I do not have the content.
  • Okay, I understand why this book has so many great reviews because it is a very helpful tool to study for the exam. It consolidates the information in an organized fashion. However there are soooo many errors and conflicting information in this book it has me worried and insecure about taking this exam. Makes me wonder what type of editing was done on this book and doesn’t author care that there are so many errors. I hope she is working on correcting these errors typos and conflicting information because this ruins an otherwise amazing study tool for the NP exam
