  • I have never read anything by James Patterson, but I am a huge Dolly Parton fan. Therefore, I decided to take a chance on this book and I’m glad I did! I enjoyed the slow build-up of the mystery of Annie Lee’s past, and I loved the lyrics sprinkled throughout the book.Annie Lee (aka Rose) is tough, driven, and talented. She goes to Nashville to chase her dreams and make it big as a songwriter and singer. While I don’t really relate to her aspirations or her life experiences, I do admire her courage and determination.Ruthanna had a great deal in common with the Queen of Nashville herself, including her heart for putting books in the hands of children. I fell in love with her instantly. Who doesn’t love Dolly?!?Ethan and Jack were both endearing and sweet. I liked them both almost instantly. Ethan was a true storybook hero.I struggled at the beginning of the book with not being able to relate to the storyline and losing my interest. That being said, it did get better, and after that, I could barely put it down. This book is a little like watching a country music special/movie, so it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I hear Dolly is releasing an album to accompany all of the lyrics in this book, and I can’t wait!
  • Two well known people just capitalizing on their names. A book for teens. Don’t waste your money or your time.
  • Well, that is a combination of writers I did not imagine. Dolly Parton, the Queen of Nashville, and James Patterson, Master of the Thriller.Twenty-Five-year-old Annielee has arrived in Nashville with nothing but a backpack full of secrets and lies. With dreams of making it big all by herself. A chance run-in with one of Ruthanna’s musicians and all of a sudden she is living with Ruthanna and headed for the big time.More than once I thought this was based on the television show Nashville. About halfway through the book, I stopped even calling her Ruthanna and just called her Dolly. She along with the other characters are all slightly damaged in some way. Emotional trauma. Secrets they can’t share. But the past always catches up to us. And Annielee is about to find that out.Thriller? No. Dead people? Also No. I could believe Dolly wrote this book but not JP. The characters were what I call surface. I didn’t really care for any of them. And it’s hard to believe the series of coincidences that came about really fast. But I wasn’t thrilled or remotely scared.I have read everything James Patterson has written. This is becoming a pattern almost. There are 12 songs included in the back. Just lyrics. Not sure why they were included.NetGalley/ March 7th, 2022 by Little, Brown, and Company
  • What I loved about this book was the signature James Patterson writing style coupled with Dollys obvious knowledge of music and the music industry. You actually live in this book while you are reading it.
  • Great book, read it all in 1 day, I didn’t want to stop. Couldn’t wait to find out her true story.
  • Loved the book! Kept me interested from start to finish. James never disappoints. I loved that dolly collaborated and gave us an inside view. A must read!
  • I was immediately absorbed into the book. I’m a huge Dolly fan and would envision her throughout the storyline. I think the book is setup perfectly for a sequel. I hope one happens because I want to know the rest of their stories!
  • Very first James Patterson novel, it’s not going to be my last novel. I pre order yesterday. I just needed something super different. So happy I decided on this.
  • This is the most boring book I have ever read reapetative throughout they ought to stick to their day jobs both off them.money for old rope.
  • Loved the book fantastic story and you very never too sure how it was going to end m happily, but how.I love the pieces of sons thought they were quite relevant to the story at the time I had to read the book in one sitting which nowadays is three days, you get a bit slower with age. I would recommend this to any James Patterson and Dolly Parton you’d think they’d be an unlikely couple but they worked so well together together ]and the story was smooth with no bad breaks in it I recommend this book 100% and wish I could read it again as if it was for the first time.
  • Not a strong plot typical girl in trouble boy saves girl. Why not just take her from the motel room when they found her?Not your best work James.
  • Dolly’s not only a fantastic country singer, kind and generous, real and beautiful, but she can write too. Rose is a kickass heroine with a heart of gold. I loved her, Ethan, and everything about this book. Well done!
  • Really hoped this would be great as I love James Pattersons books and also think Dolly Parton is great, the characters were good and was a nice read but not really much going on in the story, would have liked more thriller going on, seemed to have got almost to the end before anything happened but it was still an enjoyable read
