  • Why this book has such a positive rating…I’m an avid reader and I will usually finish reading even mediocre book to the end. But reading this book has been so painful and I’m giving up now at a third of the way in.There is no real story line, just character interactions, which are mostly drawn out and tedious. The majority of the content is a series of text message strung together. I feel like the relationships between the characters don’t make sense, there’s no character development or building of their stories to explain why they are interacting the way they are. Often when reading I felt like the author was trying to dish out desert but there was never any entrée or main course! At nearly half way through this book the main characters have only left their apartment once during the story. Surely they have lives beyond hanging out in their bedrooms and living room texting each other?I’m just so honestly baffled by what people have written in the positive reviews, there are no strong characters, no powerful messages, the story is definitely not complex or intriguing.. I don’t feel confident this story is going to improve in the second half of the book so I’m opting out now.
  • I tried this book and I was really bothered by the emotional and actual cheating after all the build up and high horsiness stating they NEVER would do that… then completely disregarded the fact that they were deceitful and cheated too. It’s ok to mess up, but if there’s no owning it then ??? I tried another book by this author (All Your Perfects) and I reallllllyyy hated that too so ultimately I just think these are not the books for me. I’m sad because I really wanted to find another author I love. Overall, I wish I would have tried the full samples before buying her stuff and depressing myself.
  • I am a new fan of Colleen Hoover. The first two books of hers I read were “Verity” and “Too Late.” I read in an author’s blog that those books were different from what she usually writes. This is the first all romance book of hers I’ve read. What no weird stuff? No truly evil people? Still, whatever it is about her writing that draws me in was present in all three books. What I really liked about this book is that it was not cheesy romance. When I read romance I prefer it to be historical romance, or mystery romance, thriller romance or anything but only romance because those books tend to have codependent characters, fantasy settings, and unrealistic endings. So I was pleasantly surprised with the strong and emotionally healthy characters and the lack of black and white judgments in this book.I wish I could say what it is about this author that draws me in. Until I can, I will continue to enjoy being entertained by the author’s work. I’m off to read the sequel to this book.
  • Maybe Someday was my first Colleen Hoover book and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the book. It’s kind of perfect. The writing is flawless and charged with feeling. It’s one story that you won’t be able to forget. This is the kind of book you read over and over again. I specially loved the music. The songs the characters compose were turned into real songs, and they are beautiful and perfect for the story. The best part is that you can actually listen to them.I also loved the words. I mean, some parts of it feel like poetry. So many beautiful words. The way it’s written really allows the reader to experience the emotions the characters are feeling. I could feel their anguish, their longing for each other, their desperation, everything really. It felt real.I also loved the story. It’s forbidden love but on a very different level. Both Sidney and Ridge are very well developed characters and very likable people. It’s a story about the inevitability of love and bad timing. I know I’m not making this book justice with my words. The only thing I can say is that I believe this is one story every romance lover should read. It will not only not disappoint, it will leave you breathless.
  • This is my first Colleen Hoover book and I am blown away. I loved the idea of this book! There were so many emotions while reading this. Surprise, humor, anger, dismay and shock. Okay I may have been moved to tears a time or two. Also the emotions this brought out when Ridge and Sydney had scenes together. OMG! I couldn’t believe him a couple times nor her! Seriously just move out! Right?Warren was a guy who cracked me up more than once! What a whack a doodle! So when he was serious I was like Wha? Who is this guy! Warren was a good stress reliever to the book. I think it might have been too serious if he wasn’t there. That ending!!! OMG!! So much emotion. I loved how Ridge “listened” to Sydney and when they were “together”! Best scene I have ever listened to! Perfectly what I would expect from these two! Ridge was built as a dream man and WOW did he fulfill that role!I listened to this on audio and there were times I was shocked, sickened and pleased. Zachary Weber and Angela Goethals were outstanding! I can’t think of another narrator who could have done Ridge any better. Well done!
  • Sydney finds out that her boyfriend of two years has been cheating on her with her roommate. On her 22nd birthday nonetheless. Standing outside in the pouring rain with all her worldly possessions, her neighbour, Ridge, offers her a place to stay for the night. She reluctantly accepts as she has nowhere else to go.The next day she meets his other roommates, and it turns out that they actually have a spare room so she becomes their newest recruit.Ridge, although deaf, writes music for his brother’s band but has had writer’s block with the lyrics recently. And recently Sydney has been helping him. It just seems to come so naturally to her that Ridge knows he can’t let her go.Their friendship blossoms along with their mutual attraction and deeper feelings…but Ridge has a girlfriend. A girlfriend of five years that he loves intensely and is fiercely loyal to. So why won’t his heart listen and stop falling for Sydney?Well this was heart-wrenching! A slow burn with sooooo much build-up it felt like I might combust! It was heavy on the romance, tension, and chemistry. I think I felt every one of their emotions alongside them. Torn for Ridge with his heart split in two, heartbroken for Sydney, loving a man she couldn’t have. I think I actually held my breath each time she reminded herself how to breathe!Colleen Hoover, you are an evil woman for making me cry.
  • I was so excited to start reading this book but it left me so distressed and frustrated. I can’t believe how many 5 star reviews have been left on this book as I cannot understand why.I absolutely cannot stand love triangles but I can tolerate them sometimes when I feel like the characters have true chemistry/love. The main male character has a girlfriend, and the main female character has just been cheated on. THIS BOOK GLORIFIES CHEATING and right until the end of the book I was left feeling as though the female character was only chosen as a second choice because the guy’s girlfriend left him.The only reason I’m giving this book 1 star is because I liked how this book was connected to songs, and because of the interactions between the two main characters via texts/Facebook due to one of them being deaf. Other than this, this book was so disappointing and I would never recommend this to young people as it highlights that things like cheating are okay.
  • I can completely understand how people get obsessed with Colleen’s books. The ways she tells a story is absolutely stunning and her writing is so full of emotion. You. Feel. Everything! I lost count of the times my heart stopped for so many different reasons, I held my breath longer than felt natural waiting to see what happened next and fell in love over and over again.Everyone deserves a Maybe Someday. Someone to make music with. Someone who makes them feel, No matter if it’s right or wrong, good or bad, feeling is worth living for. Now to rush and not spoil the story…Love. The one thing in love that is truest about love is that you have no control over it. You may think to can choose who you love or that you can hide from love or that you can ignore it and it will disappear. You will fall in love with Sydney and it won’t take long before she feels like a friend you have known your whole life. You will laugh with her, cry with her, get angry with her and pretty much feel everything she does. Complicated doesn’t quite cover her life but you will love the rollercoaster. Then there’s Ridge. Sitting in his guitar, strumming away on his guitar. Dear Lord. I am a sucker for a musician so I was a goner before I realised I was in trouble! These two write the most amazing music and as their paths entwine life becomes messy. Nothing is as care free as it looks and the people around them become just as involved as them.I really loved this story and I can’t recommend it enough. No love story is easy but Maybe Someday is so worth the hugs and low and complications. So worth it!
  • So I was a Colleen Hoover virgin until I read this story. I came across her on Facebook of all places and liked her page, I found myself laughing at every post. And I thought. I need to read this woman’s work!I started with maybe someday because the reviews were outstanding. And I don’t even think those reviews done this author or this book justice. This book was phenomenal. In every sense of the word.I (very stupidly) started reading this at 11:30 pm and decided to forgo sleep just to finish it. (My husband and kids LOVE me today ha.)I’ve never been so moved and so enamoured with a story before. I felt like crying when it ended. Seriously. Moved.Thank you so much for this wonderful story!I bought it on kindle but now I’m going to get it on paperback just to keep there with me always. I sound like a lunatic but seriously. This book was it.
  • Colleen Hoover presents , yet again a masterful piece of writing that leaves you in no doubt that love in all its forms it as important as taking your next breath. The emotion and passion depicted in the book, just serves to provide us with one of the most stunningly touching and heartfelt novels you will read this year, if not in a lifetime. The story is engaging to the point of obsession, I couldn’t put it down and more to the point I didn’t want to.Ridge and Sydney are the sort of characters that draw you in and made you hold them tight for fear of what might happen if you let them go.Ridge is the quintessential good guy, it would be impossible to not love him. He is talented and compassionate with a secret that when revealed just makes his beauty more tangible – proving that sometimes it is possible to be even more beautiful on the inside!Ridge has a girlfriend, a real sweetheart by the name of Maggie, who he is devoted to but when his heart sets its sights on Sydney, we know that someone is going to get hurt. This was tough because I liked Maggie’s character but I was rooting for Ridge and Sydney to give into their desire.Sydney is just so sweet, thrust into Ridge’s life she stands her ground and earns your respect the more you read about her. But she is not some shrinking violet, she can stand up for herself – when required. The connection between these two is forged from mutual respect but the way their lives just fit together is spectacular. They are forged from two halves of the same heart. The romance between them didn’t just evolve, it took root and there is nothing that anyone could have done to prevent it.The way Ridge could feel her singing the songs they had written was described with such emotion that it felt as if my heart could stop.Their honesty even in the face of the most adverse of situations was a breath of fresh air.The story will take you on a journey through every possible emotion, I found myself laughing out loud at some of the situations – especially Warren and his relationship with both Ridge and Sydney but in other places, it was difficult to see past the pain and emotion coming off the page, Maggie was a joy to read but her heartbreak was so painful that it stopped me in my tracks.Ridge’s ability to verbalise his thoughts were divine, he holds nothing back and both Sydney and him and quickly aware of the fact that they feel way more for each other than they should – but they are powerless to stop it.I love Colleen’s work and this is no exception.Yet again, we are presented with a truly remarkable story and some complex situations that give us enough insight into the understanding that love really is the most dangerous of emotions, something that we have no control over and something that without warning can render even the strongest individual powerless to change its path. There were no sides in this story, no-one to feel sorry for – but a whole host of characters that definitely had something to say and were determined to be heard.A remarkable book, a joy to read and one that will remain in my top ten for a very long time to come
