An Amazon Best Book of January 2022: Every aspect of Reminders of Him feels heightened because it’s not just a romance novel and it’s not just an angst-filled forgiveness and redemption story. It’s not a heartrending epistolary novel written to a lost love. And it’s not even a what’s-best-for-the-child kitchen sink drama, though that’s how the first three story arcs intersect. It’s an honest-to-God, wet eyelashes, lump-in-throat (twice!), mix of all four. You will laugh, you will cry, you will have a new appreciation for orange F-150 trucks. And, as Kenna struggles, fails, and struggles harder to win back the reputation and the daughter she lost tragically, you will hurt for her and cheer for her. And if the owner of the orange truck is involved somehow, well, I’m not crying, you’re crying. —Vannessa Cronin, Amazon Editor Review “Hoover delves deep into grief and guilt to create a multifaceted redemption story for a cast of characters who fight as fiercely as they love. Fans won’t be disappointed.” ―Publishers Weekly“With captivating dialogue, angst-y characters, and a couple of steamy sex scenes, Hoover has done it again.” ―Kirkus Reviews“An angsty, emotionally-charged novel about finding forgiveness and redemption for past mistakes, Reminders of Him took Colleen Hoover’s already evocative writing to a whole new level…An intimate, sometimes painfully real, reading experience like no other.” ―Harlequin Junkie, Top Pick“Colleen Hoover’s new romance will rip you apart and put you back together again…An emotional masterpiece about loss and hope, grief and forgiveness, and how the power of love can heal.” ―POPSUGAR“Heartbreaking yet hopeful.” ―The Nerd Daily About the Author Colleen Hoover is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of several novels, including the bestselling women’s fiction novel It Ends with Us and the bestselling psychological thriller Verity. • This book just wasn’t for me. The writing isn’t bad. But the characters wear their hearts on their sleeves and make choices that don’t seem particularly sensible or believable. I knew I was in trouble when I hit the chapter in which the main character writes a letter to her dead boyfriend. Then there was the chapter devoted to a five-year-old’s T-Ball practice. Many may find this entertaining. But like I said, this just wasn’t for me.
  • Amazon delivered this book on 1/17 in the afternoon. From the moment I started reading I knew it was going to be a long night. This book is exactly what my heart wanted!
  • “I’m sorry.Thank you.I’m sorry.Thank you.Repeat.”I cried so much during this book. But that’s the beauty of Colleen Hoover’s writing style: it draws you in so expertly that you know feel every raw emotion, every thought, idea, every feeling that the main character does. Hell, you become and embody that character. That’s Kenna. She feels so all alone in the world. She is trying to do right and amend for a tragic past. Just one singular instant and everything changed. She just wants the opportunity to see her daughter, maybe get those she has wronged to forgive her, and perhaps have some sort of life with them in it. It’s been 5 years. And the only person that seems to be giving Kenna a shot is Ledger. He’s immediately drawn to Kenna but he can’t pinpoint why. Once he realizes who she is, he’s pissed, the hate that he has built, in his mind, for the past 5 years may be somewhat misplaced. But it’s a hard line for him to straddle: hate and budding emotions of want and like. This story is expertly crafted and told that only Colleen Hoover would be able to be the one to deliver it. And deliver she did. I can’t recommend this book enough. Have your tissues at the ready and happy reading.
  • I wanted to give this book 5 stars but just couldn’t. There are so many f-bombs I almost stopped reading it but I kept at it. Glad I did too. But I will never read it again or listen to it because I don’t need that word in my mind. Why oh why is it so necessary to the story?
  • For once I actually thought Colleen wasn’t going to make me cry. I made it about 320 pages and the floodgates opened.Someone asked me the other day if Reminders of Him was a romance. With most of Colleen’s books, they’re typecast into romance but to me, it was just a novel. Not just a novel but romance wasn’t the center of it. It’s a story of tragedy and growth and forgiveness. Yes, there is a relationship and an HEA but for me, the HEA is with the entire cast of characters. An ensemble. As with all of Hoover’s books, I recommend going in blind. It’s filled with grief, has plenty of humor, and will leave your heart warmed.
  • Colleen Hoover never ceases to amaze me. Her wickedly insightful brain comes up with these stories that I cannot put down and devour in one sitting. Reminders of Him, is just one of those stories that will stick with you for a long time. A story about, love, loss, grief and forgiveness. It’s about the journey not the destination.
  • Colleen did it again. She ripped soul to pieces to pit it back together again. There were tears, laughs and shortened breaths in this masterpiece. Well done.
  • This beautiful cover held so much promise! Alas, this story was not for me.After hearing that many readers cried their hearts out after reading Colleen Hoover’s latest book, I was expecting a novel with more depth, more feeling, more connection? I wasn’t really feeling it.Kenna was imprisoned for 5 years (for vehicular manslaughter? Because her actual crime was never mentioned.) Nor was there any description of life behind bars (other than a few words of platitude from her friend), or mention of any type of parole officer or Court supervision after Kenna was released.Okay, already we are in fantasy land. To be very clear: Kenna drove while intoxicated and killed her boyfriend at the time, Scotty. He was also alive when she fled the scene of the accident, and he lived for hours after. She did not call for help, but instead went home and passed out.Kenna then gave birth to their child, Diem; had her parental rights terminated; and has now arrived back in the small town where everyone is supposed to know everyone else, but somehow Scotty’s best friend Ledger doesn’t know who she is at first.Diem is being raised by Scotty’s parents, but Ledger is also obsessed with Diem, sorry, I mean Ledger is actively involved in Diem’s life and upbringing. I will skip over the part where Kenna and Ledger quickly fall in love and go right to the part where Scotty’s parents obtain a restraining order against Kenna barring her from approaching them and/or Diem (I think, more pesky details that were omitted from the book.)However, Ledger finally convinces Scotty’s parents to overcome their hatred of Kenna (through an invasion of privacy, in my opinion), and everyone lives happily ever after. That’s it!I finished the book so I am rounding up from 2 stars but I think this one was meant for a younger demographic. The conclusion was far too rushed and predictable for me. I read the Acknowledgements where the author explained why she did not specifically name the town or setting of the book, but to me, that was just another main detail that was sorely missing from this book. Here’s to hoping I can connect more with Colleen Hoover’s next book.
  • **This has nothing to do with the brilliant writing of Colleen Hoover or the content of the book.**I received my copy today which I had pre ordered and was expecting a glossy copy of a paperback as I usually receive when something is published. What I got was ANOTHER Amazon knock off copy where they print it themselves.I wish that it would state somewhere in the description that this is what you are receiving. This has happened numerous times and for sending as gifts this is just embarrassing.I know this doesn’t take away how good a novel this will be and doesn’t affect the writing, it’s just disappointment when you receive a sub standard item time and time again.
  • I am so glad I pre ordered this book. I have sat for 6 hours going through every single emotion imaginable! I won’t give anything away but of course Colleen Hoover has done it again. She never fails to leave you contemplating your own actions in life. The moral of this story is a one everyone can relate to. What an amazing story! Definitely a one that’s going to stay with me for a while.
  • Just when I thought I had read my favourite #coho novel @colleenhoover releases this beaut of a story,So heartfelt and honest – it’s a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish, so make sure you have a box of tissues at the ready. That bubble you get in your throat, that ache in your heart – that was prominent for me through the whole book. What I Love most about Colleens books is the characters – its so easy to relate to them and to be able to emphasise with their lives and feelings. Also im in awe of the writing – how it grips you and pulls you in and makes you believe that you’re in the story. Kenna’s pain is portrayed so well within the writing. I adored the push and pull of the relationship between her and Ledger. The uniqueness in this story can be found in the letters written throughout, I found that gave an added insight to Kenna the story. I loved that she wrote to Scotty it truly showed how much she was in love with him.Another cracking read!! But then we all knew it was going to be right!?!?
  • Colleen Hoover is a one click author for me. I never quite know what I’m going to get story wise, but I do know that it is always going to be a fantastic story and will probably destroy me. Right now I feel like my heart has been torn out of my chest, stomped on and the mangled mess shoved back in. #bookhangover The FMC has to overcome so much trauma and adversity to just get through each day, trying to be a good person for the child she has yet to meet. I love that she wrote letters about how she was feeling, past traumas, memories and current day to day stuff. This is my first five star read of 2022. Thank you Colleen Hoover for making me cry so hard but also damn you for making me cry so hard I struggled to see the words.
