  • I read this book to prepare for my upcoming APUSH exam. I expected the book to go into depth on the information I will need to know to pass the board exam in May, and it did just that! Since the book is nonfiction and explains all of American history, I do not have any personal connections besides the fact that I live in America.There is no central theme in this book, as the context starts from pre-Columbus history and extends to 2000s history. However, the author tends to focus on certain presidents to analyze their economic, social, political, and international effects on America and the world around them. In addition, the book summarizes all important speeches, events, wars, etc. that are essential for knowing for the AP exam.Although I am not a huge history fan, reading all of the units in this book has helped me to better understand the course material that will help me strive. I recommend this book to anyone who takes APUSH, so they can use it to freshen up on the material they learned at the beginning of the year, while also taking the practice tests to help them study. If you do not take APUSH, there is no need for you to read this unless you really love history.
