NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the stars of the Netflix series Get Organized with The Home Edit (with a serious fan club that includes Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Mindy Kaling), here is an accessible, room-by-room guide to establishing new order in your home.“A master class on how to arrange even your most unattractive belongings—and spaces—in an aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-navigate way.”—Glamour (10 Books to Help You Live Your Best Life)Believe this: every single space in your house has the potential to function efficiently and look great. The mishmash of summer and winter clothes in the closet? Yep. Even the dreaded junk drawer? Consider it done. And the best news: it’s not hard to do—in fact, it’s a lot of fun. From the home organizers who made their orderly eye candy the method that everyone swears by comes Joanna and Clea’s signature approach to decluttering. The Home Edit walks you through paring down your belongings in every room, arranging them in a stunning and easy-to-find way (hello, labels!), and maintaining the system so you don’t need another do-over in six months. When you’re done, you’ll not only know exactly where to find things, but you’ll also love the way it looks. A masterclass and look book in one, The Home Edit is filled with bright photographs and detailed tips, from placing plastic dishware in a drawer where little hands can reach to categorizing pantry items by color (there’s nothing like a little ROYGBIV to soothe the soul). Above all, it’s like having your best friends at your side to help you turn the chaos into calm.

Because truthfully, we at The Home Edit are barely capable of simple tasks like ironing or cooking rice (Do you leave it covered? Uncovered? Do you need to stir? Why is it so complicated??). But what we are good at is walking into a room, seeing past the mess, and coming up with a methodical plan of attack. So if we can somehow create sense out of chaos, we bet you can, too. When we first launched The Home Edit (or THE, as we are often called), we had a very clear objective: Transform the way people think about organization. Now . . . we understand we’re not performing brain surgery or curing cancer. BUT we’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be to create a clutter-free space and make it exceptionally functional—whether it’s the kids being able to help themselves to a cereal station in the pantry (we’ll do anything to get thirty more minutes of sleep) or finally being able to see your clothes in the closet after clearing away twenty years’ worth of nostalgia (no, your daughter will not want that shirt one day). We weren’t satisfied with being just another couple of organizers who could sort things into bins and use a label maker. We wanted our spaces to function and look beautiful. So we figured out a unique system that adds a layer of visual aesthetic alongside the practical one—much in the same way a designer approaches a space. We didn’t do this because it looked amazing on Instagram or because we really (really) like when things are organized in rainbow order—we did it because we believe that organizing spaces shouldn’t just be about putting things in their place. Nor should it just be about the way the room looks. We wanted to showcase the magical sweet spot that exists where function meets form—when spaces are efficient, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing all at once. It not only makes sections of your home more enjoyable to look at, but we’ve also found that sprinkling this extra layer of pixie dust inspires people to maintain their organized spaces. Which is the whole point! If, as our client, you’re not able to maintain the systems we put in place, then we didn’t do our jobs effectively. If we were to go back to your home a year later, we’d want to see that The Home Edit is still working for you. Literally the first thing we do when revisiting a client’s home is to check to see if that vanity drawer or linen closet looks like we organized it last week; if so, we give ourselves a shiny gold star. And guess what? We have a sticker chart FULL of gold stars because the systems we create really do work. (Obviously we keep track of these things because we love accomplishments almost as much as we love sticker charts.) It wasn’t long before we started to feel like something bigger was happening. Clients all over the country, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Molly Sims, Rachel Zoe, Tiffani Thiessen, and Mindy Kaling, were requesting our services. And then we started to see our work splashed across Domino, Architectural Digest, the Today show, and even the Target website (which was probably the most exciting thing to ever happen to us—no offense to our children). The more exposure we received, the more people asked us, “How on earth can I do that in my home? Surely whipping my house into perfect Gwyneth-worthy synchronization is expensive, time-consuming, and requires a team of people.” Honestly, that’s not true. We’re not gonna lie, organizing can be hard—it requires work, time, and thoughtfulness, and it can be more emotional than people expect. But if you have a system in place and rules to follow—and you don’t bite off more than you can chew—you can get there. And you can trust us on this, because if we can do it, pretty much anyone can do it! Read more <div id="

  • Wow, where are all of these amazing reviews coming from?? I read the entire book in less than an hour, and the only new thing I came away with was remove items from original packaging before putting in pantry. Every other single tip can be summarized as: 1. Get nice closet shelving, such as California Closets, in every storage space. 2. Get clear storage bins for said shelving. 3. Organize everything in those clear, labeled bins by category, color, function, etc. 4. Label every storage bin. When I saw a picture in the book of a so-called organized kitchen drawer with all of the nice kitchen knives laying on top of one another with no separation, I nearly lost it. You NEVER, EVER lay kitchen knives in one bin/drawer sleeve on top of one another. It’s a really, really good way to get cut, not to mention that you’re really gonna F up your nice chefs knives. With all of the name dropping they did in the book, you’d figure they are used to clients with pricey chefs knives. Some of my best knives were hundreds of $$, and there is no way you’ll ever find them nestled together in a drawer. They’ll be in a knife block or on a magnetic strip. To me, that seems like organization 101!!!!Finally, the pics are beautiful and inspirational, but save yourself money – you can find exactly the same stuff on Pinterest for free and buy cool organizing bins with the money you saved!!
  • As someone who struggles with organization with a house of 4 kids I was so excited to get this book. However, I feel like I’m just looking at a collaboration of instagram inspirational photos telling me what everything is when I can clearly see that with the labels on everything. The biggest downfall for me is that there is no buying guide, like what’s the name of the bin, label, drawer etc. At least on Instagram you can ask questions and find out or they link the containers. I bought this book to help me organize and they have awesome organizational skills and it is funny I just would love to be able to look in the book and find the things that would fit my organizational need and then know where to go, or what to buy.

  • This book is amazing if you have gigantic room sized closets, Instagram worthy mudrooms, and tons of cabinet space and shelving. I’m not sure that it’s super helpful for the rest of us…
  • The book itself has many attractive photos. Essentially it is a book of organized spaces with suggestions. I enjoy books like this more for their inspiration than for concrete suggestions. My main disappointment is that even though the book was shrink-wrapped, there were no refrigerator labels. I know it isn’t the end of the world, but when you look at the back of the book and it says “includes a starter set of labels” and the labels are mentioned in the book, that is a source of frustration.
  • Love following their Instagram account, but the book just includes pics already on the site with very little text or tips on how to achieve what is in the pictures in my opinion. Not a fan of the way the pics try to capture entire rooms and then you can’t really see them because of the book binding either. The included labels are a nice perk, but I’d save the money on the book for product instead.
  • I loved this book! It is organized by area-such as-the refrigerator, under the sink, the closet, the pantry. Not only does it spell out good ideas, but each section has lots of beautiful pictures! And since none of us have the same size pantry, closet, laundry room-it shows all different types-from “to die for laundry rooms” to a basic laundry room. Fun book to get great ideas!!!!
  • Never thought a book about organizing would be interesting, hilarious, beautiful, and life changing…but this one is. A pantry can be functional AND PRETTY. Taking everything out of cardboard boxes and placing them in labeled baskets and lucite turn tables? Yes please. Never have I ever taken such joy in putting an “every day” drawer together in my bathroom for eye pleasing grab and go items. The labels included in the book are upping my fridge game. Now even my coffee table is prettier with the rainbow tabbbed pages in the book! Thanks for making my house pretty and organized. Well. Done. Ladies. 👏🏻🌈
  • This book is beautiful and very inspirational – but it doesn’t really provide a guide on how to implement or make your own version of the designs. There is information on how to purge and a few very general tips on organization but having read it, I don’t feel like I could go out and implement their system. Obviously, that would be hard to communicate since there is so much variety in spaces but I was really hoping for more implementation instructions along with the photos of beautifully organized spaces.
  • I do like how pretty the book is. The photos are gorgeous and the layout is nice. Very professional with only a few typos I noticed. But considering what I got out of the book I don’t think it was a wise purchase. It’s mostly a repeat of the same information over and over again with inspirational photos. You can get that on Pinterest or instagram or wherever you haunt in the digital realm without the cost. Overall not hugely useful.
  • I love the simple, easy-to-follow approach to organization in this book, but I wish there were more examples of spaces for city-living. Half of the images and ideas would be incredibly difficult to implement in a 700 sq. ft. condo.
  • This is a soft cover book but the outside page is a little more sturdy making it a perfect book to leave on the living room table (if you are one of those people!)The book itself is all about home organization and I found it to be educational, fun to read and almost calming. The book took into account many different spaces and challenges that we all face in trying to organize our own homes. They definitely advertise their products but its not over the top and they stress that you could achieve the same results with dollar store materials.I also really enjoyed looking through the past spaces they organized (celebrity houses). The photos are stunning, the text makes sense and the little bits of ‘filler’ add some dimension to the book. Overall great personal purchase and I have even given it as a ‘house warming present’ to close family and friends.
  • LOVED IT! Read it cover to cover when it arrived. Simple, straight forward guide to organizing your home to be functional and beautiful! I can’t wait to implement some of the things I learned. I love that they share so many different options for what your space might look like, despite the fact that most of the homes they organize are expensive with built in closets and room to party inside. It’s a beautiful (and hilarious if you follow them on Instagram) addition to my coffee table collection!!
