It is a code book and has some relevant information. The biggest issue is that the book is not clearly understandable. It is like a lawyer wrote the book, not an experienced framer who is trying to help. Just this week had a customer asking questions because how they interpreted a section was causing issues. Even we had issues interpreting it because everything is either overly vague, or so technical that you don’t get it.There is a wealth of information, but they need to seriously reformat and rewrite this book with the average individual in mind, not trying to simply meet a court mandated issue or whatever is causing this to be so poorly organized.

Nice book, but these codes are freely available online. Go to codes.iccsafe.org, click the I-Codes button below the map of the USA, then scroll down to where it says 2015 International Residential Code. Click the book cover and this book, in its entirety, is there. Codes from previous years are also available on the same website. Given the price of this book, unless you have a reason to specifically have a copy in paper format, then I don’t think it’s worth it. Also, these codes get updated every 3 years, so it won’t be long until it’s out of date.

If you want to take a test to be a Residential building Inspector you need this book or a more current version of the same book. Also buy some practice tests for the same edition to help you pass the test.

I ordered this book(used-very good condition) for my bf to study and take his exam. It looks brand new and perfect, until you open it and find pages out of order and missing pages filled in with duplicate pages from a different chapter. Bummer as he has been stufying the 2009 version, and was super excited for a more updated text.

I ordered the used book yesterday and it came super fast. Looks absolutely brand new it was even in the factory plastic wrap. It just had a slight crinkle in the back edge but for the price difference it’s well worth it. Dont seem to be any missing pages and the print itself is great quality. Very happy I purchased this one instead of the one from my local store that was double the price.

Good book

My wife has been a draftsman for the last 8 years. She is currently going through the IDP program working towards her architectural license and I’am in the process of obtaining my contractors license. This book is a must have for anyone involved in residential construction

I purchased this book with the IBC and used it to pass my CSL license exam in massachusetts. Very informative book and I recommend finding a used copy of it if that is available. if you are building houses, this book is for you
