My somewhat driver-reluctant 16 yr old son really liked this book, although he would never admit as much to me. But I saw it had been read several times. Has a lot of really good topics, like what to do if stopped by a police officer; what to do if you’re in an accident. Very good instructions for things that are not covered (or not covered thoroughly enough) by parents or driving schools. Very readable.
I got this book for my almost 15 1/2 year old. He will be taking his permit test next month. I bought this for a stocking stuffing for Christmas. I read the book to see for myself.. it’s written well with cute illustrations and isn’t too much reading. I decided to put a test together to make sure that he is reading it! Has a lot of useful information that you wouldn’t normally get with a driving school or taking the regular driving test.
Informative book with a bit of humor. I purchased this for a new driver. Her parents loved the section, “How to deal with parents.”. Her father is a police detective and he said she really needed to read the book, because it gave good information.
I bought this for my niece. I love how it has cute sketches. They get straight to the point and keep it quick plain and simple.
I thought it’s good book to learn how to actually drive, which is……. the rules!!!!! Its Not….. its disappointment…. That’s why so many idiots driving without know actual rules of crossroads and highways… because they to much reading comics books, and about drugs))), instead of three line road on the highway that shouldn’t drive on left side if you slow…. keep right except to passslower traffic right lane…. You not going to find it in this book, and one more, do not slam your breaks on front of the car on purpose- its cause accidents, And always look ahead and think logically (if you can))))
Two of my nephews just received their driver’s license and so I bought each one a copy of this book. This book covers nearly every experience a new driver might possibly face. It covers each topic in depth. Would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a young person that is just getting their license. Should be a mandatory read.
My daughter will be driving soon and she loved this book! She hasn’t finished it yet but she did start reading it as soon as I gave it to her. This book should be given to all “new” drivers; it’s informative for the teens who are worried about driving and have tons of questions! I highly recommend!
This book covers a wide variety of driving and car-related topics that are very helpful for new and inexperienced drivers. The small decorative illustrations and first-hand accounts from drivers give the text a light-heated and easy-reading feel, much like a “For Dummies” book. I like that the book starts with 3 chapters of “getting to know your car” topics and recommends reading the car owner’s manual. There is a lot to know about a car before setting it in motion, so this is a smart way to start the book. Other chapters cover a variety of topics such as getting gas, driving in bad weather of different types, city vs. country driving, getting lost, and driving with passengers, parents, and pets. This book covers far more than I would have casually thought that a new driver needs to know. I don’t think a new driver can absorb the whole text in one reading, but at the very least it makes a new driver aware of some of the challenges they’ll face while driving at some point.
It is American so if you are British don’t buy it.
Good – but really aimed at the American Market. Full of good advice to new drivers – which is why it was bought.
Nice little book that covers a lot of things a new driver might need or want to know … if only my kid would actually read it !
My 15 year old won loved this read. Actually kept him interested long enough to read the book.
Easy to read for my teenager who doesn’t like to read! Common sense and humor – great book.
